Project Management

Project management supports the success of a project by working on all the intricacies that go into a team successfully completing the work in a timely manner. Many projects have numerous moving parts, unforeseen challenges, and complex dynamics happening in a non-linear fashion.

When I work in a project management capacity, I not only work to ensure that tasks are completed but also work on other important aspects that support the project that may not explicitly be articulated such as:

  • Relationships within the team and other stakeholders are formed and maintained

  • Getting the word out about the project through a variety of means including conference presentations, organizing activities, and online presentation

  • Identifying new directions or collaborations

  • Working on the long or longer term sustainability (when applicable)

Recent project management includes:

  • The Physics and Astronomy SEA Change, a collaboration among multiple physics and astronomy professional societies. This work is done in collaboration with AAAS.

  • Math and Statistical Sciences Working Group convened by Transforming Postsecondary Education (TPSE) Math. Individuals from multiple math and statistical sciences professional societies have been working editing and revising an EDI self-assessment

  • AAPT Professional Society SEA Change team. AAPT was selected by AAAS to take part in a pilot for an EDI self-assessment regarding AAPT's policies, practices, and culture around EDI.
